Broadway Master Classes

We will be holding FREE master classes for several of the Broadway in Columbus productions this season. All participating CAPA Marquee Awards schools will have the opportunity to sign up students for available slots.

Please note: All Broadway master classes are subject to the tour’s availability and therefore, are subject to change.

& Juliet MASTER CLASS!

Join us for an exciting Broadway master class featuring the national tour of &Juliet. This class will be taught by a member of the Broadway national tour.

REGISTRATION:

For this class, each 2024-2025 CAPA Marquee School will receive one designated slot which will be held for 48 hours. Please note, single school spots are reserved for 2024-2025 CAPA Marquee school only. 

After 48 hours, any slots not filled will be open to ANY current high school student (participating schools AND non-participating schools) who resides in any of our eligible CAPA Marquee Awards counties. Those counties include Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Hocking, Knox, Licking, Madison, Perry, Pickaway, Ross, and Union. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION:

To participate in this workshop, you MUST submit the online 24-25 CMA Media Release Form and the 24-25 CMA Emergency Medical Form.  Both forms must be signed by both you and your parent/guardian. Your registration will not be considered complete until you have signed up for a master class slot and submitted these forms.

Workshops

In addition to working with Broadway touring artists, we are also holding a series of workshops with professional, local artists throughout the year.

National Student Reporter Info Session

WHAT:

We will be hosting an information session for National Student Reporter on Tuesday, February 4 from 4-5 pm via Zoom. We would like to encourage all who are interested in marketing, journaling, and reporting to attend and consider applying for this award! You may apply even if they are not a part of your production. Note: If you are eligible for Best Performer in a Leading Role and plan on attending the Panel Audition, you are not eligible for this award.

(This session is reserved for 24-25 CAPA Marquee Awards schools.)

Dance Audition Workshop

WHAT:

This workshop will focus on musical theatre dance. During the workshop, you will be put through the paces of a musical theatre dance call, so you should come ready to dance in clothing appropriate for a musical theatre dance audition, including closed-toed and closed-heeled shoes. You should also bring a bottle of water.

PREPARATION:

You should bring a bottle of water and the appropriate clothing for a musical theatre dance audition.

REGISTRATION:

When signups open, each school will receive 1 guaranteed slot which will be held for 48 hours. After 48 hours, those slots will be opened up to any current high school student who resides in one of our 12 Marquee counties who wishes to use them.

So, You Wanna Be A Costume Designer

In this workshop, students will learn about Costume Design as it pertains to Theatre, Film, Television and Amusement Parks. There will be a detailed overview of what it takes to become a successful Costume Designer and various career choices available in the industry.  There will also be a hands-on exercise to demonstrate your costume design skills by drawing selected clothing on fashion templates.
There is nothing to prepare or bring to this workshop except your interest in learning more about design and costuming!
